A gentleman who thought that he was one of the handsomest men in London was worried because his moustache was turning grey , but the hair on his head was still black. One day he was sitting and discussing this trouble with his friend. He said, “I am worried because such a strange colouring of moustache spoil my handsome face. Why did I turn grey so unevenly? How can you explain it?

“ The explanation is very simple,” his friend replied. “ All your life you worked much harder with your jaws than with your head.”

One morning the tiger woke up in the jungle and told his wife he was the king of beasts.

“ Leo, the lion, is the King of beasts,” she said.

“ We need a change,” said the tiger. “ I’ll be the King of beasts by the time the moon rises. It will be a yellow moon with black stripes, in my honor.”

“Oh, sure,” said the tigress as she went to look after her young.

The tiger walked through the jungle till he came to the lion’s den. “ Come out,” he roared, “ and greet the King of beasts! The King is dead, long live the King!”

Inside the den, the lioness woke her husband.

“ The King is here to see you,” she said.

“ What King?” he asked, sleepily.

“ The King of beasts,” roared Leo, and ran out of the den to defend the crown.

It was a terrible fight and it lasted until the setting of the sun. All the animals of the jungle joined in, some talking the side of the tiger and other he side of the lion. Some animals did not know which they were fighting for, and some fought for both, and some fought whoever was nearest, and some fought for the sake of fighting.

“ What are you fighting for?” someone asked another animal.

“ The new order,” he said.

Who has heard about Sherlock Holmes, the famous detective in the stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle?

Sherlock Holmes’ method of solving the most difficult problems was to notice and analyze the smallest details, even if they seemed unimportant.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle once came to Paris. He took a cab from the railway station to a hotel. When he paid the cabman, the man said, “ thank you, sir Arthur Conan Doyle”.

“ How do you know who I am?” Sir Arthur asked in the greatest surprise.

“ Well, sir,” the cabman answered, “ according to the newspapers, you were expected to come to Paris from the south of France. I could tell you you’re your clothes, especially your hat and also from the fact that you carried an umbrella, that you were English. These details helped me to guess that you were probably Sir Arthur Conan Doyle”

“ Splendid! Splendid!” said Sir Arthur. “ Your analyzed the facts absolutely correctly. And you had so few facts! Clever work! Very clever!”

“ Of course,” the cabman said. “ You name is on both your traveling bags. That fact also helped me.”
