Hematite is derived from Greek word for blood-"haima" because it can be red. The color lends itself to use as a pigment. Ochre is a clay that is colored by varying amounts of hematite, varying between 20% and 70%. Red Ochre contains unhydrated hematite and yellow ones contains hydrated one.

The powdery mineral was first used 164,000 years ago by the Pinnacle-Point man possibly for social purpose.

Rich deposits of hematite have been found on the island of Elba that have been mined by the time of Etruscans.

Role Of Hematite In Medicine:-

The miniral pyrite or iron pyrite also known as fool’s gold. Is is an iron sulfide. This mineral’s metallic lusture are pale brass-yellow, gives it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well known nickname of “Fool’s Gold”.

Catarory – Sulfide Mineral. Strunz – 02.EB.05a. Crystal – Isometric Diploidal. Unit Cell – A=5.417A.Z=4. Major Variety – Cattierite, Vaesiti.

Discovered in Spain in the year of 1788. For many years Spain was the largest producer of this mineral. The large deposits Tinto River being important also for copper. Other producers are Japan, U.S.A. Canada.

GENERAL AND MEDICAL USES:

Pyrites has been proposed as an abundant, in expensive material in low cost photovoltaic solar panels. Synthetic Iron sulfide is used with copper sulfide to create the photovoltaic material.

Pyrite enhances the protective and assertive male energies in both men and women. It boosts women’s self worth and helps overcome tendencies towards servitude and inferiority. Talk is a mineral composed of hydrated magnesium silicate, it is widely used substance known as talcum powder. It occurs as afoliated to fibrous masses, and rare crystal form. It has a perfect basal cleavage and the folia are non elastic, but they are slightly flexible. It is the softest known mineral and is rated 1st on mohs hardness scale.

Talk is a metamorphic mineral resulting from the metamorphism of magnesian minerals such as serpentine, olivine, pyroxene, in the presence of carbon dioxide and water. This is known as talk carbonation or steatization.

Medicinal uses. Talk is used in baby powder and used for preventing rashes on the area covered by a diaper. Talk is used in pharmaceutical products as a glidant. Talk is used as a pleurodosis agent to prevent recurrent pleural effusion or pnumothorax. Talc is used as certain lubricants.

Others uses

Talk is used in many industries such as paper making, plastic, paint and coatings, ruber, food, cosmetics, ceramics etc.

A coarse grayish green high talk rock is soap stone and has been used for stoves, sinks, electrical switchboards, soap etc. Because of its resistance to heat, electricity and acids .

Talk is found in metamorphic belts which contain ultramorphic rocks, such as soapstone and whiteschist include the franciscan metamorphic belt of western united states. Some of the collisional orogens such as the himalayans which stretches along pakistan, india, nepal, and bhutan. In india talk is available in udaipur, rajasthan (india).
