A firewall in Windows is a computer security program that checks and monitors outgoing and incoming data (traffic) between the computer and the network. The network can be either local or the Internet, which is more common. Without a firewall enabled, all network traffic passes unchecked through the PC, while a working firewall, depending on its settings, blocks or passes data. The enabled firewall, together with the antivirus system, becomes a real wall against malware and network attacks. By the way, the second name of this type of program is Firewall, which means "fire wall"in English. You can also find the name firewall. To check whether the firewall is working, open the computer control panel Start > Control Panel, switch the window view to show "Large icons" or "Small icons" (for easy search) at the top right and find the "Windows Firewall" icon. Проверить работает ли сетевой экран нужно открыть панель управления компьютером Пуск > Панель управления, переключите вид окна в показ «Крупные значки» или «Мелкие значки» (для удобства поиска) вверху справа и найдите иконку «Брандмауэр Windows». Open the firewall window by left-clicking. When the network screen is turned on, there will be an image of a green shield opposite the connection. Otherwise, you will see a red shield.
