access to land information have an additional capacity to evaluate situations, to
analyze past conditions, and to plan for the future. But the value of the information,
and thereby the effectiveness of the decision-making process is directly related to the
quality of the information available.
As with other resources, information requires
explicit management to
maximize its potential benefits. Over the last two decades new capabilities for data
collection and processing together with expanding requirements of diverse users have
directed the attention of many organizations to the need for improved land
information management. Management strategies are concerned with reducing the
costs associated with land information processes.
