language as the Modality, the Indicative/Imperative/Subjunctive Mood, the Transitivity and the Active/Passive Voice, which evolve over time under the influence of socio-cultural changes in society are gender specific.
• The method of theoretical analysis and synthesis of material to summarize the results of foreign and domestic gender studies; • The method of continuous sampling, which allows you to select gender-relevant statements that illustrate the linguistic manifestations of gender; • A descriptive and analytical method, implying observation, analysis, qualitative description and classification of linguistic phenomena, as well as comparison of the results obtained in order to identify general and specific linguistic aspects; • The method of dictionary definitions; • The hypothetical-deductive method; • The practically dynamic method for describing and analyzing the evolution of a gender unit in a language. 6
The novelty of the thesis lies in the fact that: • The research uses dynamic methods that were not previously used in this area of knowledge; • In the course of the study a fragment of knowledge was identified that constitutes the content of the sociocultural construct "gender".; • The English feminist publicistic discourse was analyzed; • The specificity of the interaction of linguistic and non-linguistic knowledge in the representation of gender was analyzed; • A package of knowledge formats organizing the conceptual-thematic area of "gender" was revealed; • Gender-conditioned evolution in linguistics was described and analyzed.
The novelty lies primarily in the practical evidence of how the category of gender influenced the language over time and how the socio-cultural structure forced the language to evolve. The correlation between the functioning of certain grammatical categories and gender characteristics of speech behavior has been established. Currently, the issues of gender specificity have been studied to a greater extent at the level of vocabulary and semantics. At the level of vocabulary, semantic fields and associative series, the features of female and male speech were also revealed. The phonetic and grammatical aspects have been studied to a much lesser extent. However, this study is devoted more to the study of the grammatical aspect of gender linguistics based on the analysis of publicistic discourse. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the study of the category of the gender of the noun, as well as the linguistic refraction of socio-cultural norms assigned to persons of different sexes at the historical stages of the development of the English language from the standpoint of linguistic genderology, which allows to revise the status of the gender category in English.
