Сабақтың мақсаты: the main aim of the lesson is to develop speaking, writing skills; to study grammar structures, to use Verbs in the sentences correctly, especially the Present Continuous Tense Сабақтың міндеті:
to explain students about using grammar units and formal-content structures;
to develop knowledge skills to work out grammar information alone.
Сабақтың мазмұны:
THE PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
It is used to express:
(i) A process taking place either at the moment of speech or in the period of time including the moment of speech.
Hallo, darling. You are looking very tragic. This is happening all over the world.
(2) A process regularly observed as taking рlaсе under special conditions.
I don't like being watched when I am eating. I don't interrupt people when they are reading.
N о t e. The Present Indefinite may be used instead of the Present Continuous if the cause of the action is more important than the action itself.
"Why do you tell me all this?" "I want you to know the truth." Why don't you answer? ... What has happened?
The form of Present Continuous showing action in progress, is, for this reason, more vivid and dynamic than that of Present Indefinite; the use of the Present Continuous gives more life and emotional power to a statement while the Present Indefinite states things, in a matter of fact way.
Therefore the Present Continuous is often used to make a statement more expressive, to emphasize the intensity of action (or, state of being) or to convey emotional colouring to it.
This is characteristic of conversational English,, therefore , is far more often used in dialogue than in description.
Thus, the Present Continuous is used:
(1) To characterize a person bу describing his habitual ac- tion that causes the speaker irritation or irony or just on the contrary, approval or admiration.
You're always losing things. You're always finding fault with me. He is always asking questions. She is аlways helping people.
N o t e that the continuous verb is to be used here with the adverb always (or its synonym).
(2) To stress the intensity of physical perception, feeling or mental process; verbs of senses, feeling, thinking and-saying are frequently used in this case (otherwise they are very rarely used in continuous form).
She is constantly thinking of you. Она днем и ночью думает о вас. I'm not finding it so difficult, Я вовсе не думаю, что это так трудно. I'm beginning to feel I hardly know him — as if he were a stranger. Да, теперь я понимаю, как мало я знаю его...
(3) То give a kind of emotional colouring to an action or state; a number of verbs, the linking verb to be among them, are used here to express a great variety of emotional shades.
She is knowing too much. (It implies irony: Уж очень много она знает!) I see you are still being sentimental. (The speaker is sorry about the fact: А вы все так же сентиментальны, как я вижу.) Lady Ghevierix-Gore is being wonderful. Grand woman! Full of courage. (It expresses admiration: Леди Чеверикс-Гор держится просто великолепно. Прекрасная, мужественная женщина!)
