Technologies Ufa State Petroleum Technological University, Salavat Branch The paper considers prefixing as a method of forming terms in the oil industry based on the material of the Bashkir, Russian and En- glish languages. The study revealed the widespread formation of terms using prefixes in the analyzed languages. The practical signif- icance of the research undertaken is determined by its importance for deepening knowledge on the issue of identifying sources of re- plenishment of the term system in the Bashkir language. As a re- sult of this study, it is proved that prefixes function in all the lan- guages we compare. The author identifies the most productive pre- fixes used in the modern vocabulary in the field of petrochemistry. Russian terms, or terms perceived through the Russian language in many cases, are an incentive to search for Bashkir terminological units. The enrichment of the Bashkir language terminological sys- tem was facilitated by borrowing and calculating terms from Russian and Western European languages, as well as their successful adap- tation in the vocabulary of the language.
