BLACK ONYX

Ifeakor Gift, group 10. Scientific adviser is Tatyana Tishakova

Onyx is formed by the deposition of silica in gas cavities in lava, which results in the distinctive bands or stripes we see in the stone Onyx is a form of microcrystalline quartz known as chalcedony. This stone is formed in the gas cavities of lava. Its chemical composition is SiO2 with a hardness of 6.5–7. Black onyx is a type of agate, made of silicon and oxygen. It has a virtuous lustre quality and a trigonal structure system. When people hear the term onyx they assume a reference to a black stone. However onyx can be brown, white, orange, red, honey coloured or a blend of colours. If the stone is brown it is called sardonyx. If the stone is red, it is called Carnelian onyx. Only when the stone is black throughout is it referred to as black onyx

Just put the black onyx stone in the water for 30 minutes and healing water is ready to use. Put the Onyx water right on the skin regularly during the day, include the infected area with an Onyx water compress during the night

However, the use of Onyx as embolizing agent for bleeding from peptic ulcer has not found widespread use, and literature on this topic has been sparse at best. Lenhart et al. mentioned two cases of peptic ulcer bleeding (one gastric ulcer and one duodenal ulcer) treated with Onyx, showing good result in long-term follow-up of two years.

SODALITE

Shada Ibrahim, group 10. Scientific adviser is Tatyana Tishakova

Sodalite is a scarce mineral that can be rock forming. Sodalite is named in reference to its sodium content.

It is used for carvings and some jewelry pieces. Its light to dark pure blue color is well known in the semi-precious stone trade.

Sodalite is a feldspathoid mineral best known for its dark blue variety which makes up lapis lazuri.

• It is told that sodalite will harmonize the inner being or the conscious with the subconscious mind. It is most helpful for work in groups and stimulates thought.

• It is a stone wonderfully beneficial for healing breaches in communication. t can help end arguments or other disagreements that have to do with communication or when communication has become an issue.

• It is particularly useful for honesty of emotions.

It increases intelligence, knowledge and learning and will unite the logical with the spiritual.

• Sodalite is an excellent stone for reducing high blood pressure if carried constantly on the person. Necklaces of sodalite beads that hang down to the heart area will increase its hypotensive properties.

• It also is associated with the thyroid, it has a calming regularity effect on the thyroid gland, the vegetative nervous system and all glandular functions.

• By balancing the endocrine system, it strengthens the metabolism.

• Reduces stress and helps to prolong physical endurance.

• Sodalite is excellent for psychic development and meditation, particularly if used with lapis or other clear quartz crystal. While other stones may blast open the inner doorway to the psychic, this stone gently eases it open. This allows us acceptance of and working with the new and different abilities much easier than if they had come too suddenly.

HEDENBERGITE

Rout Prativa Priyadarsini, group 14. Scientific adviser is Larisa Lukyanova

Hedenbergite, CaFeSi2O6, is the iron rich end member of the pyroxene group having a monoclinic crystal system. The mineral is extremely rarely found as a pure substance, and usually has to be synthesized in a lab. This mineral is unique because it can be found inchondrites and skarns (calc-silicate metamorphic rocks). Since it is a member of the pyroxene family, there is a great deal of interest in its importance to general geologic processes.

It was named in 1819 after M.A. Ludwig Hedenberg who was the first to define hedenbergite as a mineral.and later chemistry student and co- worker found at mormorgruvan, tunaberg, sweaden and published a description of the mineral. Later mineral and described it. Hedenberg and Berzelius attempted to make compounds involving first initial commonly attributed to Anders Ludvig Hedenbeg’s name signifies the title”Mister”.

Hedenbergite has a number of specific properties. Its hardness is usually between five and six with two cleavage plains and conchoidal fracture. Color varies between black, greenish black, and dark brown with a resinous luster. Hedenbergite is a part of a pyroxene solid solution chain consisting of diopside and augite, and is the iron rich end member. One of the best indicators that you have located hedenbergite is the radiating prisms with a monoclinic crystal system. Hedenbergite is found primarily inmetamorphic rocks.
