This article is dedicated to the study of the historical landscape of one of the rural areas under Domain of 
the Republic of Genova in the Southern part of the Crimean peninsula. In modern historiography reflected three 
main points of view on the size of the territory of the rural district of the Genoese city of Cembalo. In this article, 
we would like to give a scientific discussion about the boundaries of the Consulate of Cembalo and transfer it 
to the field of gathering and accumulating facts about the objects of this district. Considered archaeological 
sources used in historical and geographical studies of the borders of one of the Genoese possessions on the 
Crimean peninsula – the Consulate of Cembalo in 14
th
–15
th
centuries. Published list of 18 medieval villages 
located in the modern administrative zone of the city of Sevastopol, which demonstrates how information about 
them was presented in written sources and the degree of archaeological study of thise monuments. In general, 
today we are at the initial stage of their research, archaeological excavations were not carried on most part of 
this villages.
