N.A. Krisanova. Ideological Campaigns of 1947–1953 in Higher Education System in
Mordovia.
The article views the problem of ideological system influence on the development of
higher education in Mordovia and in the whole country. Higher school is one of the most im-
portant institutions whose activity is aimed at forming the scientific, ideological, cultural ori-
entations in the society. This fact explains the great attention of political authorities to the
system of higher education. The intention of totalitarian authorities to prevent academicians
and pedagogues from the dangerous influence of liberal and democratic ideas of post-war
period resulted in the abrupt restriction of research freedom, impoverishment of scientific
thought. This undoubtedly became a negative factor in development of higher school in Mor-
dovia.
