Course description:Global Geography addresses globalization and place-making among people in their social and physical worlds. You will learn to analyze the links between cities and the world economy, understand processes of uneven development and inequality, and learn how migration and mobility shape our politics and society. Global Geography engages climate change and environmental processes through a distinctive mix of physical science, geographical information systems (GIS), and social science. Tasks of the discipline Geographers work across boundaries: thinking through problems using diverse approaches at multiple scales, from the local landscape around us to the global human impact on the earth today. Course aim: The discipline is designed for students to master the system of knowledge about global problems of humanity associated with specific regions of their manifestation. Possible ways of solving (or "softening", "smoothing") global problems are specified, their permeation with the idea of the geographical unity of humanity and its survival is emphasized, which is extremely important for a holistic understanding of the planetary community of people, the unity of nature and society. Attention is focused on the need for humanity to re-evaluate previously established economic, political, ideological and cultural values. Prerequisites: Social and economic geography of the world, Geography of continents and oceans, General Earth Studies Postrequisites:Introduction to economic and social geography, Geoinformation systems, Geoecology Expected learning outcomes of the sudject (LOS): LOS 1 Understanding the prerequisites for the emergence of the energy problem, globalistics and geography, demographic problems, the problem of tstalost, food problems, mastering theoretical and practical knowledge in the discussion of solutions LOS 2 Improves knowledge of the problems of raw materials, the problems of the world ocean, the global ethnic crisis, the Biosphere as a planetary organization of life, technogenesis: global and regional manifestations, global ecology, atmosphere, hydrosphere, pedosphere ecology, social ecology. | |||
