ON  THE  FOUR  BASIC  PRINCIPLES  OF  TRA DI-

TIONAL ETHICAL CONCEPTS OF KAZAKH-NOMADS 

ABOUT HUMAN BEING

The  article  examines  the  content  and  functions 

of  such  paired  ethical  categories  as  “adal”  (honest, 

conscientious,  pure,  blameless,  unclean,  faithful,  etc.), 

“aram” (dishonest, unclean, filthy, malevolent, malicious, 

vicious,  etc.),  on  the  one  hand,  “obal”  (sin,  sinful, 

unlawful,  sin  on  the  soul,  sorry,  etc.),  “sauap”  (good 

deed, good , a grateful deed, a godly deed, etc.) on the 

other. From the point of view of the author of the article, 

these  categories  functioned  as  systemic  and  semantic 

principles  of  the  traditional  ethical  concept  of  Kazakh-

nomads about human existence. In the everyday life of 

nomads, these principles-categories in a certain sense 

performed  not  only  ethical,  but,  in  a  certain  sense, 

normative  and  regulatory  functions,  especially  in  the 

sphere of customary legal relationships.
