The article examines textual issues of the genealogical book and genealogical epic of Shakarim Kudaiberdiev. In particular, the editions of the author’s work, beginning with the words “The Progenitor of the Kazakhs - Batyr Turk” and the author’s book “Turkic, Kyrgyz-Kazakh and Khan Chronicles”, published in Orinbor in 1911. The Xinjiang version of the genealogical epic and manuscripts preserved in the rare collection of the Central Scientific Library of the RSЕ “Gylym Ordasy” are also compared and studied. Also, within the framework of fundamental works, a scientific analysis of data related to the life of Ogiz Khan, the main character of the epic “Ogiz Nama” and the father of the Turkic people, was carried out, and new opinions and conclusions were expressed. In particular, “340 years” in the epic of the poet’s genealogy is defined as “3400 years” according to the manuscript of the poet’s works and the life time of Ogiz Khan is specified. However, the research work widely uses the works of famous historians of the Middle Ages, and surprising opinions are expressed about the life of Ogiz Khan. When studying the genealogy of Shakarim, works such as “Jamiq at-Tawarikh” (Collection of stories) by Rashid ad-Din, “Turt ulus history” (History of four nations) by Myrza Ulykbek, “Zafar-nama” (“Book of Victory”) by Sharaf ad-Din Ali Yazdi, “Collection of Chronicles” by Kydyrgali Zhalair, “Turkic Chronicle” by Abilgazy Bahadur Khan, “Firdausu-l-Iqbal” by Munis and Aghaha are of great importance. At the same time, this research work examines the textual science of Shakarim’s genealogy and solves some textual problems.
