Широко известной за рубежом является классификация Чаппела и Уайта, продолженная и дополненная Коллинзом и Валеном. В ней выделяется 4 типа гранитоидов: S-, I-, M-, A-граниты. В 1974 г. Чаппел и Уайт ввели понятия о S- и I-гранитах, основываясь на том, что состав гранитов отражает материал их источника.

Различие в составе источников S- и I-гранитов устанавливаются по их геохимии, минералогии и составу включений. Различие источников предполагает и различие уровней генерации расплавов: S – супракрустальный верхнекоровый уровень, I – инфракрустальный более глубинный и нередко более мафический. В геохимическом отношении S- и I-граниты имеют близкие содержания большинства петрогненных и редких элементов, но есть и существенные различия. S-граниты относительно обеднены CaO, Na2O, Sr, но имеют более высокие концентрации K2O и Rb, чем I-граниты. Эти различия обусловлены тем, что источник S-гранитов прошёл стадиювыветривания и осадочной дифференциации. К M типу относятся граниты, являющиеся конечным дифференциатом толеит-базальтовой магмы или продуктом плавления метатолеитового источника. Они широко известны под названием океанических плагиогранитов и характерны для современных зон СОХ и древних офиолитов. Понятие А-гранитов было введено Эби. Им показано, что они варьируют по составу от субщелочных кварцевых сиенитов до щелочных гранитов с щелочными темноцветами, резко обогащены некогерентными элементами, особенно HFSE. По условиям образования могут быть разделены на две группы.

Химическая формула- SiO2.

Месторождения аметиста встречаются у Оберштейна в Биркенфельде, в Циллертале, в Зибенбюргене, Хемнице, у дер. Ватиха и Липовой близ Мурзинки на Ср. Урале, крупные кристаллы ювелирного качества на Приполярном Урале, на о. Цейлон, у бухты Св. Марии (St. Marys Bay), в Северной Америке и в особенно значительном количестве в Бразилии. Также на Мадагаскаре, в Уругвае, в Армении (щётки небольших кристаллов в агатовых жеодах).

Аметист используют для снятия стресса, укрепления эндокринной и нервной систем, увеличения активности правого полушария мозга, нормализации действия эпифиза и гипофиза, очищения крови и подъема энергетики. Он регулирует кроветворение и улучшает кровообращение. Помогает при лечении умственных расстройств, гармонизирует все уровни сознания, способствует повышению интеллекта и многостороннему развитию личности.

Согласно поверьям, аметист устраняет дефекты речи и не даёт развиться порокам.

Считается, что аметист служит противоядием при отравлениях, оберегает своего владельца от кожных заболеваний, головных болей, охраняет от ран и проясняет разум. Используется при лечении бессонницы, а также головной боли, возникающей в результате чрезмерного нервного напряжения.

Аметист помогает перебороть пристрастие к алкоголю. Для этого пьют воду, настоянную на аметисте, или кладут аметист на область солнечного сплетения.

Jasper which means “spotted or speckled stone” is derived through Old French jaspre and Latin iaspidem from Greek iaspis, from a Semitic language yushphah (Hebrew).

It is an opaque, microcrystalline variety or Quartz with large, grainy crystals rather than the fibrous layers of chalcedony or Agate.

Its cleansing effect eliminates negativity, returning it to its source and stabilizing the aura. It soothes nerves and restores balance. It is also believed to assist women in overcoming a jealous love rival or unfair opposition to a relationship. It is used in making jewelries, beads; and also as car and home decorations.

Red Jasper helps with the sense of smell.It stimulates health and birth (fertility). It regulates metabolic energies of the body, providing strength and vitality and increasing physical stamina.It helps generate muscle tissues, useful in weight lifting and body building. It is thought to support the circulatory system, treatment of anemia, heart conditions including recovering from bypass or transplant surgeries.

QUARTZ ( ROCK CRYSTAL)

The most common use for rock crystal is in ornamental carvings. A well known ornamental carving for rock crystal is the crystal ball of fortune telling fame. While rock crystal is common it is hard to find large crystals of quartz with the clarity and size required for the crystal balls that most of us associate with fortune tellers. Rock crystal is used for many ornamental carvings from spheres (crystal balls) to pyramids to obelisks to figurines to eggs to bowls to wands. There are also many fine chandeliers that are outfitted with rock crystal ornaments.

Clear Quartz acts as a deep soul cleanser, purifying and enhancing the body's internal structure and surrounding subtle bodies to connect the physical dimension with the mind. It focuses on inner negativity and stimulates positive thoughts and feelings in its place. With a better perception of the world, Quartz increases awareness and clarity in thinking, and provides enhanced energy, perseverance and patience, teaching one to live, laugh and love with all of humanity. The crystal then grows out and around the encrusting growth, encasing it inside. But since the thin encrustations formed over a crystal complete with crystal faces it appears that there is a crystal inside the crystal. The encrustations are often incomplete or diffuse and appear ghostly, hence the name phantom.
