Brief description of the discipline: a complete definition of geographic information systems is a set of hardware and software tools and algorithmic procedures designed to collect, input, store, mathematical and cartographic modeling and visual display of geospatial information. Along with the development of technology, the areas of its application are developing.
Tasks of the discipline;practical skills of working in modern geoinformation
Course aim: the purpose of studying this scientific and practical discipline is to give students theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of geoinformation technologies on the problems of Earth, water resources, geology, hydrogeology, engineering geology.
Prerequisites: Mathematics, Computer Science, Cartography and Topography
Post-requisites: physical geography of Kazakhstan, social and economic geography of Kazakhstan, Geoecology, Geology
Expected learning outcomes of the sudject (LOS):
LOS 1 to give students theoretical and practical knowledge on geology, hydrogeology, water resources, engineering geology from the point of view of geoinformation technologies.
LOS 2 obtaining preliminary knowledge about the basic concepts of building geoinformation systems;
