Currently, much attention is paid to the development of the social
sphere of society. In this regard, the content of professional train-
ing of specialists in social work at a university should include the
formation of personal qualities, without which professional success
is impossible. The article shows that the participation of students in
volunteer activities aimed at helping people who find themselves in
difficult life situations will allow solving this problem. To study the at-
titude of students to volunteer activities, their emotional states aris-
ing in the course of the implementation of this activity, a study was
carried out, as a result of which it was found that a number of condi-
tions that can lead to emotional burnout are sufficiently manifested
in student volunteers. In this regard, it is necessary to include in the
content of educational disciplines methods and forms of work that
allow to form the value orientations of future specialists, their pro-
fessional culture, a high level of emotional resistance to psycholog-
