The structure of the thesis: the thesis consists of an introduction, two chapters,

each of which includes several sections, conclusion, references and annex.

The introduction indicates the relevance of the study, it’s object and subject, sets

the aim and objectives of the study, the hypothesis, the novelty, the research methods,

provides the practical significance of the study and its material for practical study.

The first chapter is devoted to the theoretical research of the gender linguistics.

The modern theories of gender linguistics are considered. The notion of the

grammatical gender and aspects of the category of gender in a publicistic discourse are

discussed.

The second chapter is devoted to the analysis of the evolutionary process of the

category of gender. The process of how socio-cultural changes in society influenced

the development of language is described. in order to practically demonstrate the

evolution of the category of gender, examples from the texts of publicistic discourse

were used.

Each chapter ends with conclusions.

In conclusion the results of a comparative analysis of linguistic devices in the

interaction of certain phenomena of the grammatical structure of the English language

and gender are summarized, the results of the study are summed up.
