THE ROLE OF THE COGNITIVE COMPONENT OF THE
CONFLICT COMMUNICATIVE SITUATION

This article is carried out in the concept of communicative, cogni-
tive and psychological linguistics. The
relevance of this research
stemmed from the increased interest in studying conflict commu-
nicative situations from the point of view of different sciences as a
whole. The article examines situational
and cognitive approaches
to the study of conflict interactions. The importance of the cognitive
component within the verbal presentation of the conflict communica-
tive situation is determined. Using the method of contextual analysis
of an excerpt of a feature film in English the author described one
of the possible examples of implementation of a cognitive distortion
of beliefs that served as a trigger for conflict communicative interac-
tion. Within the framework of determining the importance of the cog-
nitive aspect in the verbal presentation of the conflict situation, the
use of speech tactics was revealed. The results can be used in the
further study of the role of the cognitive component in the process of
verbalization of conflict interaction, for describing other variations of
cognitive distortions, as well as for studying the impact of the axio-
logical aspect on the conflict communicative situation.
