The development of digital literacy of schoolchildren
in conditions of creating
a digital educational
environment
Introduction. The increasing rate of digitalization is ahead of the development and skills of schoolchildren, the main users of
the Internet. The teacher forms meta-subject educational outcomes in the students within the school course in computer
science. Unfortunately, the existing educational and methodological complexes and textbooks on school computer science
are not able to reflect all components of digital literacy in full. For this reason, the authors of the paper proposed to
adjust and expand the content of the school course in computer science by creating an electronic educational resource
"Fundamentals of Digital Literacy and Cyber Security" on the platform of distance learning Blackboard.
The aim is to adjust the content of the school course in computer science, aimed at improving the level of digital literacy
of students of secondary schools, taking into account the trend of creation and use of the digital educational environment
in teaching practice.
Methodology and methods of research. The methodological basis of the authors' research was the idea of environmental
and personality-oriented approaches. The main methods of research are a theoretical analysis of educational and
methodological, scientific literature and Internet content
on issues of digital literacy, the generalization of practical
experience in the formation of digital literacy.
Results. Digital literacy is positioned as a person's ability to use all the variety of digital tools for its own purposes, to work
comfortably and creatively in technologically equipped environments. Digital literacy involves the development of four
components: technical aspects,
information on the Internet, communication on the Internet, and digital consumption.
Not all of these components are reflected in the school course in computer science. The development of the electronic
educational resource "Fundamentals of Digital Literacy and Cyber Security" proposed in the paper is based on the use of
active and interactive technologies in establishing the level of formation of digital literacy of schoolchildren and it meets
all components of digital literacy.
Scientific novelty. The content of digital literacy of schoolchildren is investigated, the thematic
content of educational
sections of an electronic educational resource on the formation of digital literacy of schoolchildren, which is relevant to the
main components of digital literacy, is scientifically proved: technical aspects, work with information, communication, and
consumption. The necessity of formation of digital literacy in parallel with the study of the basic course of school computer
science in the format of independent work of students.
Practical significance. The use of the designed electronic educational resource on digital literacy will enhance the competence
of students in this field; will allow working in a convenient mode for each student corresponding to their capabilities and
interests.
