Some of the issues of socio-political activities of Sultanbek Kozhanov period of the Turkestan
Republic
Abstract. The author examines and provides a historical analysis of one of the periods of the social
and political activities of Sultanbek Kozhanov, based on materials deposited in the archives of the
Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan. The prominent political and public figure S.
Kozhanov together with the national intellectual class of Kazakhstan, his most prominent
representatives A. Baitursynov, M. Dulatov and others made a significant contribution to the formation
of the Kazakh Republic under Soviet construction. The author describes the political activities of S.
Kozhanov, who held responsible government posts, including the position of instructor of the Central
Committee of the CPSU (b) on national issues in Moscow. He became a victim of mass operations in
the years of the Great Terror in 1937-1938.
