Abstract: This article
discusses the main features, principles, structure and
difficulties of the implementation of speech compression during simultaneous
interpretation. It also briefly describes the process of simultaneous interpreta-
tion.
Simultaneous interpretation is one of the most difficult types of inter-
pretations, in which the interpreter interprets into the target language simulta-
neously, simultaneously with the listening comprehension of the speech in the
source language. Since professional simultaneous interpretation is carried out
in
special conditions, such as unequal conditions between the language of
translation and
the language of the original, lack of time,
high psychological
stress, the main purpose of simultaneous interpretation is to provide adequate
translation and information. Simultaneous interpreter must not only accurately
translate the text, but also fully convey the meaning of text. Simultaneous
translation is characterized by a significantly higher
level of information loss
and a lower level of its assimilation. Therefore, in order to bring the communi-
cative goal of the speaker to the listeners, simultaneous interpreters use differ-
ent strategies to improve the quality of interpretation. Compression strategy is
one of the main strategies of simultaneous interpretation. Compression strategy
is a way to reduce text size without compromising the speaker’s communica-
tive goals. Unfortunately, there are very few researches in this field that would
be considered from the position of Oriental languages and which would specif-
ically study this theme. Many researchers in the field of simultaneous interpre-
tation have studied compression strategies from the point of view of Western
languages. Therefore, common problems connected
with simultaneous inter-
pretation from Korean into Kazakh are not well studied and make this theme
relevant.
