DIAGNOSTICS OF THE FORMATION OF THE
FOUNDATIONS OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNICAL
SKILLS OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

This article shows the relevance of the pedagogical task of forming
the foundations of engineering and technical skills of students of
general secondary and basic schools,
the concept of the founda-
tions of engineering and technical skills is introduced. The potential
of the subject “physics” for solving this problem is shown. An exam-
ple of the sequence of the formation of engineering thinking and en-
gineering and technical skills of students in the process of studying
one of the topics in physics is given. The requirements for the matrix
for controlling the formation of the foundations of engineering and
technical skills of students are described, specific steps in the pro-
cess of its construction are indicated, and an example of this matrix
with a detailed description of all elements is given. When forming
the control matrix of the fundamentals of engineering and technical
skills of students, one should pay attention to the fact that certain re-
quirements should be applied both directly to elementary skills and
to some sets of skills collected based on the connection with the de-
velopment of engineering thinking in schoolchildren.
